Highland Parks Poolhouse Blue Mountain Beach, Florida
This project is the center of community activity for a new, traditionally planned, pedestrian oriented neighborhood. Conceived as a compound, the community amenities are clustered to create a place. The pool is not fenced, but walled at the compound’s perimeter, with access through gated portals. The pools step up the site with the natural grade, minimizing the perimeter wall height in a friendly way. Above the treeline, the observation tower has a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico to the south. The materials are chosen to be maintenence free in this salty, corrosive environment. The walls are unpainted stucco on masonry. The roof structure is galvanized steel and wood.
